Who is Andrea Cule, both as a footballer and as a person away from the pitch?
As a footballer, I would describe myself as someone who always puts the team first and gives everything for the badge. I believe leadership is not only about words but also about setting an example through hard work, discipline, and consistency every single day. I always try to bring positive energy to the team and help my teammates become better.
Away from football, I am a calm and grounded person who values family, friendships, and quality time with the people I love. Football is a huge part of my life, but I also believe that having balance off the pitch helps me perform better on it.
What or who inspired you to start playing football when you were a child?
My love for football started very naturally through playing outside with friends and watching matches whenever I could. From a very young age, I felt a special connection with the game and enjoyed every moment with the ball at my feet.
What inspired me the most was the passion football brings and the emotions it creates. I was also fortunate to have people around me who believed in me from the beginning, encouraged me to follow my dreams, and never allowed me to doubt myself.
You have been selected in the Best XI of the Bosnian league again this year. What does this recognition mean to you personally?
This recognition means a lot to me because it is confirmation that the hard work, sacrifices, and dedication throughout the season have been noticed. Every footballer works to improve every day, and it is always special when your performances are acknowledged by others.
At the same time, awards like this motivate me even more. I see them not as a final achievement but as encouragement to continue developing, setting higher standards, and helping my team achieve even greater success.
This season you scored 10 goals and were also the team’s best assist provider. How would you describe your impact on the team’s attacking game?
I always try to contribute in every possible way, whether through goals, assists, creating chances, or simply helping the team control the game offensively. Statistics are nice because they reflect productivity, but for me the most important thing is how much my contribution helps the team win matches.
I enjoy being involved in the attacking phase and creating opportunities for my teammates. Football is a collective sport, and I believe success comes when individual quality serves the team’s objectives.
How would you describe yourself as a player on the pitch, your strongest qualities, mentality, and playing style?
I would describe myself as a competitive, responsible, and hardworking player who never gives up. I like to play with intensity and always look for ways to help my team, both defensively and offensively.
My strongest qualities are my speed, technical ability, and determination. I enjoy taking responsibility in important moments, but I also understand the importance of teamwork and tactical discipline. I always try to play smart football while maintaining the courage to make a difference.
What is the most memorable match of your career so far, and why does it stay special for you?
There have been many important matches throughout my career, but the ones that stand out the most are always the big derby games against SFK Sarajevo. Those matches have a special atmosphere, extra intensity, and emotions that every player feels from the first minute.
Derbies are the kind of matches that remind you why you fell in love with football. The energy from teammates, supporters, and the significance of the result make those moments unforgettable.
What has been the biggest challenge you have faced as a female footballer, and how did it shape you?
One of the biggest challenges has been proving that women’s football deserves more recognition, visibility, and respect. There are still many stereotypes and obstacles that female athletes have to overcome compared to other sports environments.
Those experiences made me mentally stronger and taught me the importance of perseverance. They helped me develop resilience and stay focused on my goals regardless of external opinions or difficulties.
Bosnia and Herzegovina still has important final matches in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification campaign for Brazil. What are your expectations and ambitions for those games?
Every match for the national team is both an honor and a responsibility. Representing Bosnia and Herzegovina is something I am extremely proud of, and every player in our squad understands what it means to wear the national jersey.
Our goal is to give our maximum effort, compete with courage, and represent our country in the best possible way. We believe in our potential, and of course we all dream of one day qualifying for a major tournament such as the European Championship or the World Cup. That would be a historic achievement for Bosnian women’s football.
What do you think Bosnia and Herzegovina needs in order to continue growing as a national team in women’s football?
I believe the key factors are better working conditions, greater investment, and a long-term development strategy. Success at senior level starts with quality work in youth categories, where talented girls need the right environment to develop.
It is also important to create continuity and stability. When young players see a clear pathway from grassroots football to the national team, it becomes much easier for the entire system to grow.
What should be done to encourage more young girls in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region to start playing football?
Visibility is extremely important. Young girls need role models and positive examples that show them football is a sport where they can succeed and build a future.
We also need better infrastructure, stronger support from clubs, schools, and local communities, as well as more opportunities for girls to get involved at an early age. The more accessible football becomes, the stronger the future of the women's game will be.
Women’s football is growing, but it still needs more visibility. How important are media attention, better conditions, and stronger support for the next generation of players?
They are absolutely crucial. Greater media exposure helps people discover talented players, follow competitions, and understand the quality that exists in women's football today.
Better conditions and stronger support create opportunities for young players to develop their full potential. When talented girls see that their efforts are valued and recognized, they become more motivated to pursue football seriously and dream bigger.
How do you usually spend your free time away from football, and what helps you stay balanced mentally?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends because those moments help me relax and recharge mentally. Being surrounded by people who support and understand me is very important.
I also value quiet moments away from football where I can clear my mind and focus on personal well-being. Maintaining balance is essential because football demands a lot both physically and mentally.
What is something interesting about Andrea Cule that fans maybe do not know yet?
Many people see the competitive side of me on the pitch, but away from football I am actually a very simple and relaxed person. I enjoy peaceful moments and appreciate the little things in life.
I believe staying humble and connected to the people around me is one of the reasons I remain motivated and focused. Football is my passion, but the relationships I build along the way are equally valuable to me.
What is the biggest dream in football that you have not achieved yet?
My biggest dream is to continue developing as a player and compete at the highest possible level. Every athlete dreams about testing themselves against the best and achieving success both with their club and national team.
At the same time, I would love to help Bosnia and Herzegovina reach a major international tournament one day. That would be a dream not only for me personally, but for everyone who believes in the future of women’s football in our country.
